This Friday night sees the start of the eagerly anticipated 2023 Tom Cross Kildare Junior Football Championship.

There are 11 teams in the competition with 6 in Group A; Ardclough, Ballykelly, Castlemitchell, Grange, Milltown and Rathcoffey.

Cappagh are in the 5 team group B along with Athgarvan, Kill, Rheban and Robertstown.

The top team from each group will qualify for the semi finals with the second and third placed teams in each group playing off in the quarter finals.

On Friday our Joe Mallon Motors sponsored Senior Footballers begin their Junior Football Championship campaign when they play Athgarvan in Hawkfield pitch 1 at 8.00 p.m. Both teams finished on 10 points in the Division 4 league campaign and Cappagh came out on top in the league fixture between the teams on a scoreline of 2 08 to 0 10 on 10th of June played in Cappagh.

With the 5 teams in the group fighting for 3 qualifying places this game could have a crucial bearing on the final group standings.

Our Cappagh lads have been training hard and have put in some very encouraging performances in the league and will be eagerly looking forward to getting their championship off to a good start.
