Camogie U16 League Division 3 Shield Final

Cappagh 2.06 Rathcoffey 1.03

Cappagh faced neighbours Rathcoffey yesterday in the u16 Camogie Div 3 Shield Final. Playing against a strong breeze in the first half, Cappagh worked extremely hard all over the pitch. Sophie Cleere struck an excellent free to the net after hard work from our inside forwards, Lilla Kate Finn Maebh Grogan and Naoise Mulligan .Cappagh followed up with 2 points from play from our dynamic midfielders Caolinn O Leary and Aoishe Gormley. Rathcoffey countered with 2 well taken scores. They were a constant threat. However with Cappaghs goalie Mija Kirsininkiene and full back line Amy Lynam Anna Lambert and Allanah Lynch in fine form, many of those attacks were cleared. Likewise throughout the match Cappagh were a constant goal threat. With Breffni Nolan playing a great supporting role to Hannah Murray and Sophie Cleere which made up a very strong half forward line.

Rathcoffey's keeper was fantastic and made numerous goal line saves.

Despite Rathcoffey having a very strong spine,in the second half Cappagh pushed home their advantage with Hannah winning a ball at centre forward and hitting the roof of the net

This was followed up with excellent points from play from Aoishe, Maebh, Sophie Cleere and Hannah.

Ratcoffey came back with a goal and a point which made the closing stages a tight affair.

During this spell our half back line of Sienna Morrow, Sophie Maher and Darci Gormley shone with great tackling and accurate passing from defence.

Overall a great team performance who are gelling together and developing under the guidance of coach Sinead Gormerley and Dave Cleere.
